Kalamazoo, MI – January 6, 2021 – Landscape Forms, North America’s leading designer and manufacturer of high-design, site furniture, structure, LED lighting, and accessories, announces that it has won three 2020 GOOD DESIGN® Awards.
Founded in Chicago in 1950 by Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames, GOOD DESIGN remains the oldest and the world’s most recognized program for design excellence worldwide. In this year’s 70th annual awards program, the jury organized by the The Chicago Athenaeum received a record number of submissions from the world’s leading manufacturers and industrial and graphic design firms, representing the most important and influential corporations in the design industry from over 48 countries.
The Landscape Forms awards span a range of its product categories—from outdoor lighting, to architectural sun shades, to modular seating solutions. The winning products include Motive lighting; Disc, Peak & Stretch sun shades; and Link seating system.
Motive is a comprehensive family of lights, designed by Justin Champaign, that emphasizes the beauty of illumination and its interaction with architecture, objects and space. The Motive area light, path light, wall light, pendant light and dramatic outdoor floor lamp all work together to blur the line between indoor and outdoor luminaires and create out-of-the-ordinary settings.
Disc, Peak & Stretch are 100-percent cast and extruded aluminum sunshades inspired by the elegant simplicity of post and beam construction. Designed by Scott Klinker, Disc, Peak & Stretch are recognized for their architectural and confidence-inspiring forms, clean and unobstructed interiors, and their beautifully simple and intuitive shelter experiences.
Link is an outdoor seating system that enables landscape architects to achieve the scalability, elegance and creative freedom of custom, one-off site furnishings with the added value and simplicity. Designed by Jess Sorel, Link’s uniquely adaptable design and modular components easily accommodate the constraints and accentuate the nuances of any given site, both physically and aesthetically.
The 2020 GOOD DESIGN Awards culminate a year of many recognitions for Landscape Forms. “2020 has been an unprecedented year for Landscape Forms in many ways, including being our most awarded year on record,” says Chief Creative Officer, Kirt Martin. “These awards are achievements celebrated across all aspects of our company—from our design partners and internal design teams, to our product engineering and manufacturing teams, to our People Department and others working behind the scenes. They’re truly ‘team wins’, with each and every member of our operation having a direct hand in making it all happen.”
In addition to three GOOD DESIGN Awards, Motive, Disc, Peak & Stretch and Link have each won other notable awards in 2020 including two Architectural Record Product of the Year Awards, two Interior Design Best of Year Finalist designations, Platinum and Gold Level Spark Awards, an Architectural Products Product Innovation Award, and a Red Dot Award in Product Design.
