With his extensive background in the lighting industry, Smith-Petersen brings a wealth of knowledge and genuine passion for enhancing people’s experiences with light. Smith-Petersen’s journey into the lighting industry was unique. Beginning his career as a psychiatric clinician at a community hospital, he developed a passion for working with people and a keen sense of the relationship between people and their environments, including the importance and effects of lighting. After exploring different paths, including website design and marketing, Smith-Petersen found his true calling in sales for a lighting company, where he discovered a perfect blend of working with people and technology. “Learning how to enrich people's experience with complex lighting systems was the best of all worlds,” says Smith-Petersen. “I am grateful to have collaborated with some of the finest lighting designers, architects and engineers in North America. Helping them positively impact people's lives with light is incredibly fulfilling.”
Throughout his lighting career, Smith-Petersen has held various roles in sales, product marketing, and business development. He has served as the primary contact for several lighting industry organizations, including IALD, IES, and AIA, and has been instrumental in developing lighting educational training and certification programs for both internal teams and external partners. “Everything in my 25-year career has led me to this opportunity,” says Smith-Petersen. “Combining my technical understanding of lighting with my experience in sales, education, and product marketing, I am eager to elevate Landscape Forms' lighting business in the Northeast.”
“Chris’ diverse career in product marketing and sales combined with his breath of relationships and regional experience in the Northeast region make him a perfect fit at Landscape Forms,” says Landscape Forms Lighting President Jordan Agustin. “In this role, Chris continues our focus of reaching the electrical engineering and lighting design communities in the Northeast.
