The Greenwich Plaza office complex is strategically located between the Greenwich, Connecticut Metro North Rail Road Station and Interstate 95. The headquarters for several large businesses, it also provides commuter parking in a structure wedged between the tracks and the highway. The rooftop terrace atop the parking structure is the site of outdoor amenities for corporate tenants as well as commuter access to the rail line. Wesley Stout Associates' redesign of this significant multi-use public/private space was awarded the Connecticut ASLA 2001 President's Award for Excellence.

As a result of a failed waterproofing system, the entire roof deck had to be stripped down to the structural slab. Principal Wesley Stout explains the challenge: "The design needed to create an environment that would interface a premier corporate setting with a bustling commuter station while enhancing both the experience of the users and the identity of the complex. I didn't want it to look like a typical roof deck with benches and bolted-down tables. We actually raised the whole plaza about two feet and built everything into the ground so it appears like an on-grade, in-the-dirt installation." The primary courtyard is divided into two quadrants. The Sculpture quadrant provides a lawn panel for "Borealis," a 29' tall welded steel sculpture by Mark deSuvero. The Plaza is a grove of Locust trees planted in gravel paths and punctuated with vertical "light sticks" that create a glowing tree canopy. The installation provides an inviting, interactive setting for corporate users, a pleasant pathway for commuters, and visual delight for the millions driving by on the busy interstate.
