About Teak
- Teak is an extremely dense hardwood; highly durable and resistant to rot caused by fungal decay as well as wood boring insects. Teak is resistant to water and many chemical agents, including acids.
- Left untreated, teak is easily maintained and needs no treatment over many years of service.
- When new, teak has a brown/olive color.
- Used indoors, the wood gradually becomes a darker shade of brown.
- Used outdoors, the sun gradually turns it to a soft-silver gray, which does not effect the structural integrity of the piece.
