The Awards Ceremony, always a highlight of this important yearly event which welcomes Landscape Architects from across the nation, will be held in Philadelphia on Monday, October 6, 2008.
ASLA Design Medal
The ASLA has announced that Kathryn Gustafson is the 2008 recipient of the ASLA Design Medal, one of the organization’s highest honors. The Design Medal is awarded to ‘an individual landscape architect who has produced a body of exceptional design work at a sustained level for a period of at least ten years.’ Kathryn Gustafson is a partner at the Seattle, Washington based firm, Gustafson Guthrie Nichol. Her work includes a park in Terrasson, France; a city square in Evry France; the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park, London, as well as the Lurie Garden in Chicago’s Millennium Park.
ASLA Award of Excellence
In addition to Kathryn Gustafson’s ASLA Design Medal, the firm’s design of the Lurie Garden, part of Chicago’s Millennium Park, was one of over 500 entries in the ASLA’s call for Professional Awards. The Lurie Garden was selected to receive the Award of Excellence from more than 200 entries in the General Design category.
Landscape Forms’ display booth at ASLA will feature several recently launched products in the firm’s display space #401. These products will include Redline and Village Green benches as well as tables and chairs from the Park Centre collection.
Tables with attached seating designed by Kathryn Gustafson and manufactured by Landscape Forms Studio 431 for the award winning Millennium Park project will be displayed at booth 401. Landscape Forms’ Studio 431 is the premier resource for the engineering and manufacture of custom site elements for important projects. The Maggie bench, designed by Kathryn Gustafson, for Millennium Park, will also be shown.
In addition, Landscape Forms will introduce two new bollards, Paladin and Sentinel, which are part of a design collaboration with Rick Reeder, architect and President of designStream. These new bollard designs will join the Landscape Forms product line in 2009.
Landscape Forms also announces expansion abroad. A new sales office in London serves the UK while Landscape Forms partnership with Santa & Cole, the European design leader based in Barcelona, Spain has expanded. This marketing alliance now includes Landscape Forms product distribution in France, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
